Questions about Facebook

Recently, I have been getting a lot of questions about using Facebook “pages” for business.

What is the difference from personal and business pages?
Is there any real benefit to using Facebook?
How do I get a Facebook page for my business?

I completely understand the confusion. Facebook is relatively new and there is a lot of information online…maybe too much. But I think this is a critical element to any small businesses marketing campaign and needs to be understood and implemented.

Here are a few of the questions, and my answers….

Why use Facebook for business?

  • 30 Million people become “fans” of a company’s facebook page each day

I have a personal page…why do I need a business page?

Facebook profiles

For individuals

  • ONLY accepted “friends” can see users pages
  • You only get one page. (standard tabs: Wall, Photo, Info etc.)
  • Limited to 5,000 friends

Business Pages

  • Specifically for businesses or organizations
  • Visible to everyone
  • Pages are the ability to add new tabs and create page like a website
  • Many Pages ( Create custom designed pages that look like your website or brand)
  • Gets indexed in the Facebook search engine
  • (See examples below)

 

Should a Facebook Page replace my Website?

While a facebook page can be exactly like a website, it cannot and should not replace them. The biggest reason you will need both is that Google, Yahoo, Bing and ASK all DO NOT index facebook websites.

Who Manages the site?
